Feb 7, 2010 COQUI by Victoria Bond Premiered by North/South Chamber Orchestra
Max Lifchitz will conduct the North/South Chamber Orchestra featuring the premiere of "Coqui" by Victoria Bond. The concert takes place on Sunday Feb 7, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Christ & St. Stephen's Church, 120 West 69th Street. Admission is FREE. "Coqui" is a tiny tree-frog native to Puerto Rico. It has a distinctive song which sounds like its name. Bond's composition is based on the two-note call of this musical frog and is scored for chamber orchestra. Frescoes and Ash will premiere in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art
"Frescoes and Ash" commissioned by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will premiere on May 11th 2009 in the Bing Theater. Pianist Paul Barnes will perform Bond's composition "Potirion Sotiriu" for the Soiree Society of the Arts at the Nyack Public Library in Nyack, New York. The work is based on a Greek Orthodox chant by the same name and became the basis for the piano concerto "Ancient Keys" which will be performed by the UNL Symphony Orchestra September 30 in Lincoln Nebraska.
