The world-renowned Eroica Trio opens the 20th anniversary season of Victoria Bond's Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival (CEC) with an all-American program featuring music by Paul Schoenfield, Bruce Wolosoff, and Kevin Puts, all of whom will be in attendance.

The most sought-after trio in the world, the Grammy nominated Eroica Trio enraptures audiences with flawless technical virtuosity, irresistible enthusiasm and sensual elegance. The three women who make up this celebrated ensemble electrify the concert stage with their passionate performances. The New York Times writes, "There is an edge of the seat intensity to every note they produce".

Paul Schoenfield's Café Music draws on many genres of music, from early 20th-century American to Viennese, light classical, gypsy, and Broadway styles are all represented. The composer imagines music which could be played at a restaurant, but might also (just barely) find its way into a concert hall. The Loom by Bruce Wolosoff was inspired by the watercolor paintings of Eric Fischl. The title refers to the way stories were woven into fabrics in medieval tapestries. The Loom was composed for the Eroica Trio in 2014. Pulitzer Prize winner, Kevin Puts composed Trio-Sinfonia in 2007 for the Eroica Trio.

PROGRAM:
Paul Schoenfield (b. 1947) Café Music

Bruce Wolosoff (b. 1955) The Loom

Kevin Puts (b. 1972) Trio-Sinfonia

Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival (CEC), now in its 20th season, was founded by composer and conductor Victoria Bond featuring the music of living composers. CEC has been called "a full-throttle commitment to contemporary music" by Chamber Music America, and "a gift to New Yorkers thirsty for new sounds" by Time Out New York. Discussions with the composers are featured on each program prior to performances by outstanding ensembles and soloists. In 2017 the Festival's three concerts will take place in the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater at Symphony Space. Highlights of this year's three-concert festival include the Eroica Trio (Monday, April 3) featuring works by Paul Schoenfield, Bruce Wolosoff and Kevin Puts; pianist Taka Kigawa and the String Orchestra of New York City (Monday, April 24) performing works by Richard Carrick, Sean Shepherd, Lisa Bielawa, and premieres by Victoria Bond and Zosha Di Castri; and the Cygnus Ensemble (Monday, May 1) presenting a program of "Offbeat Operas" written by William Anderson, Frank Brickle, and Victoria Bond.
