On September 17 at 7:00 pm, Victoria Bond's Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival and The Village Trip Music Festival co-present a unique concert celebrating the 20th century American artists Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Jackson Pollack. The program features music inspired by these three icons, all of whom lived and worked in Greenwich Village.
Highlights include an aria from John Musto’s opera about Hopper, Later the Same Evening, performed by soprano Amy Burton with Musto at the piano; Jennifer Higdon’s American Canvas, performed by the Dolce Suono Trio, and Victoria Bond’s Dancing Colors from Blue and Green Music after a painting by Georgia O’Keeffe. A special screening of the PBS documentary about Jackson Pollack with a score by Roger Trefousse will be shown at the beginning of the concert, with the composer speaking about his work.
The performance is at the elegant art-filled Italianate townhouse, Salmagundi Club (47 Fifth Avenue at 12th Street). Information and tickets
